Carolina did something on Sunday they haven't done before in 2012.
At home against the Atlanta Falcons, the Carolina Panthers did something to start the game they haven't been able to in 2012 -- win a coin toss.
The odds, in their thousands, kept Carolina winless on twelve opening coin tosses and one in overtime. The inability to call heads or tails correctly is a perfect example of their struggling 2012 season, which saw a team with a lot of promise on paper fall short of expectations.
Electing to receive first, the Panthers are hoping to strike early against the Falcons, and for a team sitting at 3-9, it's about the little victories.
