Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga was involved in an incident at a bar early Sunday morning. A bar manager alleges that Maualaga punched him in the face when he was asked to leave near closing time.

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga has allegedly been involved in an incident taking place at a downtown Cincinnati bar.

According to Ethan Goldsmith at FOX 19 in Cincinnati, Maualuga was a bar called Luxe early Sunday morning, when the bar manager claims that the NFL player punched him in the face.

"One of them said something at which point I repeated myself, that they had to leave, and then Rey Maualuga got up, took three or four steps and punched me in the face, more noticeably the eye, then my nose started to bleed," said Sammy Laham, Luxe manager. "Then security diffused the situation."

There was also at least one eyewitness to the incident. Brittany Knight, an employee at the bar, had this to say:

"Our security went over to see what was going on, to break them up, and Sammy went over as well, and Rey was leaning up against the bar and he stepped forward and swung," she said. "At first I didn't see who it was because I was standing a little further back until I saw my manager walk by and I saw his eye and it was bleeding and cut up."

Police are still investigating and no charges have been made. Maualuga's agent was unable to comment.
