The Indianapolis Colts haven't had anyone with the permanent position of defensive coordinator since Week 12 of the NFL season, when Larry Coyer was fired mid-season after the Colts' 12th straight loss. After an offseason house cleaning of most football-related staff, the Colts have reportedly hired a new defensive coordinator to serve under new head coach Chuck Pagano. According to Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com, the Colts will give the position to Greg Manusky.
Manusky served as the defensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers this past season, but was fired from that position. He was the San Fransisco 49ers defensive coordinator for the previous four seasons. Manusky has been an NFL coach since 2001, when he took a job as the Washington Redskins' linebackers coach after a successful 12-year NFL career as a linebacker. Manusky replaces Mike Murphy, the former Colts linebackers coach who was named interim defensive coordinator after Coyer was fired. Murphy has since left the organization.
