Tim Tebow On Politics: 'It Could Be Something In My Future'

Tim Tebow was out at the Super Bowl this week, and at one point an interviewer asked him about the future. Not with the Broncos, though. The Golf Channel's David Feherty was asking about a career in politics, and God's Favorite Quarterback answered:

"For me, it could be something in my future. It's something I'll have to think about and definitely pray about," Tebow said on the Golf Channel's "Feherty Live" Saturday night when asked whether he might transition to politics. "I have no idea right now, but yeah, possibly."

This has always been inevitable, right? Square jaw, good conservative values, cult following, solid public speaker, below average intellect... He'd be pretty much perfect for Congress. But just for the record, we've seen the birth certificate, and HE AIN'T FROM HERE.

(Really. He was born in the Philippines.)

(So no, he can't run for President.)

(Er... Not without a legislative MIRACLE.)

(Oh God.)

No, because he actually believes all those ridiculous stories in that ancient storybook.

Um, isn't Ron Paul a christian too?

Why would you support him but call Tebow stupid for believing the same thing?

Just curious, I’m an atheist so I’m not trying to debate religion with you, just wonder why the double standard.

Religion is good politics :) The majority won’t elect an atheist.

I agree with most of Ron Paul’s political views. He’s very true to the constitution, and unwavering in his voting record. In my opinion, he’s the best candidate to return this country to it’s former glory.

If there were an atheist Ron Paul, I’d vote for him over the current.

I'm with you 100%, I've been a RP supporter for years and years

But why do you say Tebow has a below average intellect for believing in the bible but then endorse another person with the same beliefs? It’s kind of odd, no?

I’ve come to grips with the fact that the majority of American voters are subscribers to some sort of religious beliefs, and this correlation can become a large source of allegiance amongst constituents of prospective candidates. Not only do I not agree with Dr. Paul’s religious views, but I don’t agree with a couple of his political views either. That doesn’t change my opinion that he is clearly the most qualified individual (that is currently running) to lead this nation back to glory.

Which exactly describes my dislike for Tebowmania. Many of his “supporters” couldn’t give a Damn about football.. and others chalk up 3 & 1/2 quarters of largely terribly QB play, and one lucky play, to some “miracle of god” (see Michael Irvin)

Not saying there aren’t die-hard Broncos fans that just want to see the team succeed, just saying that I’ve ran into some “Tebowmaniacs” who’ve said some really strange, completely illogical things to me.

I’d have more respect for the dude if he’d never made that commercial, and he kept his religion to himself.

Tebow Could Be President

To be a President, the constitution does not require the President to be born in the United States. It requires the President to be a “natural born citizen.” Is Tebow a natural born citizen. As best I know, both of his parents are US citizens, which made him an American citizen upon his birth, regardless of the locale.

As such, he’s eligible to be president, just like 1968 Presidential candidate George Romney, who was born in Mexico to American-born parents. Simplifying things for this year, George’s son Mitt was born in the US.

Tebow could be president. Based on his political views that I’m aware of and a reasonable inference of where his views would be on other issues, I’d hate to have him as President. But he’s eligible once he turns 35.

correct

I was actually trying to find the specific section of the US Code which defines “natural born citizen”, but couldn’t find it.

This is all a moot point as precedence dictactes Tebow will no longer be on this plane of existence past the age of 33, prior to his eligibility for President.

8 USC Sec. 1401 (c)
I'm glad I found that because it is really important.

From here on out, PLEASE avoid politics. I read this site to avoid work, I don’t want to find it here.

You’re from DC. You can understand.

So you're obviously impressed by all the third-party Obama ads running around on SBN these days, huh?

Hi, my name is Michael Procton, and I will mindf*** you with logical yet (often) pessimistic retorts until the cows come home. Good Day.

I was born in the Philippines, and I can run for president..

But I was born on US Clark Air Base, where my dad worked repairing US aircraft and providing humanitarian aid as an anesthesiologist not choppin’ wee-wees and reading stories :)

Tebow CAN run for president

You can actually run for President. As long as your parents are citizens it doesn’t matter where you’re born (it’s in the Naturalization act of 1790)

John McCain was born in the Panama Canal zone and George Romney (1968 candidate) was born in Mexico.
