Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward announced his retirement on Tuesday at an afternoon press conference in Pittsburgh. Ward spent 14 seasons with the Steelers, the only franchise he played for in his career. The Steelers originally drafted Ward in the third round of the 1998 draft, but it took a few seasons before his impact really took to the field.

During Ward's tenure with Pittsburgh, he was able to rack up multiple franchise records. Ward holds the Steelers' records for receptions (1,000), receiving yards (12,083) and receiving touchdowns (85).

Ward was also a four-time Pro Bowl selection, three-time second team All-Pro selection and won two Super Bowls with the Steelers. In Super Bowl XL, Hines Ward won the MVP trophy with his five receptions for 123 yards, one touchdown and one rush for 18 yards.

As for NFL records, Ward finishes up eighth all-time in receptions, tied for 13th in touchdown receptions and 18th in receiving yards.
