In an age when fewer and fewer products are made in the United States, the country's most popular sports league still relies on the craftsmanship of American hands. Every NFL football is made at the Wilson factory in Ada, Ohio, a small town well off the highway connecting Dayton and Toledo. The good-natured employees have worked there forever: 20, 30, 40 years -- when I visited Wilson's temporary assembly line in midtown Manhattan last week, the newest employee there had 17 years of service for the sporting goods giant. That is somewhat longer than the average occupation in the online industry.
