Jacksonville Jaguars DT Terrance Knighton underwent surgery on Sunday after suffering a serious eye injury.

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Terrance Knighton underwent eye surgery early on Sunday morning following some kind of incident, the team announced this afternoon. Details of the incident are few and far between, but it appears Knighton's injury could be significant and, perhaps, long lasting.

Here's the statement from the team:

Terrance Knighton was involved in an incident early Sunday morning in which he sustained an eye injury. He has undergone surgery at Baptist Medical Center and is recovering. We are in the process of gathering information about what happened and are not able to further comment at this time. Our concern and our focus is on Terrance and his health and recovery.

Alfie Crow, our Jaguars blogger over at Big Cat Country, has more on Knighton and passed along some of what he's been hearing about the incident. Knighton may have been struck in the eye with a bottle early this morning, though details remain sketchy at this point.
