Free agent QB Vince Young has generated some interested from the Bills and will work out for the team on Wednesday.
The third overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft might be closer finding some work. The Buffalo Bills official website reports that the team will host free agent QB Vince Young for a workout on Wednesday. Young played the 2011 season with the Philadelphia Eagles but didn't re-sign with the team because he was clearly too good to be just a backup.
Bills coach Chan Gailey has some history with mobile quarterbacks like Young. I remember Gailey, while an offensive coordinator for the Chiefs, helped turn Tyler Thigpen into a somewhat pass-able quarterback on a horrible offense. He was also in Pittsburgh for a portion of the Kordell Stewart era.
The Bills starting quarterback for the 2012 season will be Ryan Fitzpatrick but, despite the multi-year extension he signed last year, it's not that crazy to think Young could challenge him for playing time if he struggles.
First, though, he'd have to receive a contract offer. More than six weeks into free agency, and no team has signed Young. That's not a good sign.
