Former Colts running back Joseph Addai has signed with the New England Patriots, according to a report.

The New England Patriots have agreed to the terms of a contract with veteran running back Joseph Addai, according to the Boston Globe. Addai was a first-round draft pick of the Indianapolis Colts in 2006, and has played all six years of his career there, but has never started 16 games in a season.

Addai, 29, was one of three veteran running backs to visit the Patriots, along with Tim Hightower, formerly of the Washington Redskins, and Ryan Grant, formerly with the Green Bay Packers. Addai has been a productive running back in his career, but has struggled with nagging leg injuries. He's played in 20 games and rushed for a combined 928 yards the past two seasons.

The terms of the contract have not been disclosed. The Patriots are hoping Addai can replace some of the production they will lose after BenJarvus Green-Ellis left them for the Cincinnati Bengals in the offseason.
