Ravens, Jacoby Jones Agree To 2-Year Deal

The Baltimore Ravens have plenty of talent on the outside with Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith in their receiving corps, but even after the bulk of free agency and the NFL Draft, they didn't have much in the way of depth. They addressed that need on Tuesday, signing free agent wide receiver Jacoby Jones.

Jones had a promising first three years with the Houston Texans, but saw his time at wide receiver decrease over the last two seasons. He's continued to play a prominent role on special teams and has value as a return man. Jones has caught just 18 balls in the last two years, but based on his previous three seasons and the Ravens' lack of depth at the position, he could have a chance to play a more prominent role in the Ravens' offense than he did in the Texans' offense.

Free Agent Jacoby Jones Visits Ravens

The Houston Texans released wide receiver/kick return Jacoby Jones on May 1, and it didn't take too long for teams to begin to show interest in the talented but inconsistent wide receiver. The Baltimore Ravens met with Jones over the weekend, according to a report by Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times.

Former Houston Texans wide receiver Jacoby Jones visited the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, a meeting that could lead to the defending AFC North champions bolstering their return game and depth at a thin position.

Jones met with the Carolina Panthers last week, but wide receiver is a bit of a thin position for the Ravens. Jones also offers the ability to be a playmaker returning kickoffs and punts for whatever team that signes him, but has shown to be inconsistent catching the football when asked to move into a primary receiver role.

Jones caught 31 passes for 512 yards and two touchdowns last season for the Houston Texans.
