The Dallas Cowboys opened their mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, and cornerback Mike Jenkins was in attendance. Jenkins reportedly requested a trade this offseason after the Cowboys gave cornerback Brandon Carr a $50 million deal in free agency and drafted cornerback Morris Claiborne.
There have been trade rumors swirling around Jenkins, but Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones has consistently said he wants Jenkins on the team.
Jenkins is entering the final year of his contract. Missing this week's mandatory minicamp would result in a $10,000 fine the first day, $20,000 the second day and $30,000 the third day for a total of $60,000 in fines.
While he's present at Cowboys minicamp, he's not participating since he's recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.
Jenkins' status will be a question mark all offseason, as a couple of teams were reportedly interested in trading for him. Don't expect those rumors to go away, despite what Jones says about keeping Jenkins on the team.
