Chase Daniel broke his thumb at Saints practice this week, an injury that will keep him out until training camp.
The New Orleans Saints are now down to their third quarterback of the offseason. Drew Brees is sitting out with contract issues and now his backup, Chase Daniel, is also out. Daniel suffered a thumb injury this week at Saints camp which interim coach Joe Vitt said would keep him out a while.
#Saints Vitt said Chase Daniel sprained thumb, a hairline fracture, when he hit it on helmet. Can't throw for 2 1/2 weeks but fine for camp

Considering the timing, this isn't a big deal. The Saints had their mandatory minicamp last week and they have OTAs scheduled through Thursday. So really Daniel is just missing the rest of this week, as far as actual practices go. Plus, most people expect Brees to show up at some point before the regular season so Daniel's short absence shouldn't matter.
