Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure has been suspended two games by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Leshoure has been cited twice this offseason for marijuna possession. The suspension doesn't come as any shock to the Lions' front office.

"Obviously that discipline falls under the commissioner's purview," Lions president Tom Lewand said in an interview Tuesday. "And suspensions are certainly something that could be a possibility and I would say are likely if you look at similar types of incidences on other teams. "

Leshoure's suspension will also cost him cost him paychecks for both games. He will be eligible to return in Week 3, when the Lions travel to face the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 23.

Leshoure missed all of his rookie season with an ACL tear. He expects to be 100 percent by the start of the regular season, but could have a tough time regaining favor from the coaching staff thanks to his rocky offseason.
