Pete Carroll Acknowledges Seahawks Broke OTA Rules

It was announced on Tuesday that the Seattle Seahawks had violated no-contact rules in their organized team activities (OTAs). As a result, the NFL Management Council and NFLPA has ruled that the team will be penalized by losing two OTA days and another workout day this week.

In a video interview posted on the official Seahawks website, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll acknowledged that the team "probably stretched [the] limit" of the OTA safety rules.

"I'm not surprised at [the rule violations]. We're as competitive as you can be and we have a very young football team. Most of these guys have never been in an OTA practice, so this is their first time to get a smell of it. As we go through this, we've had to learn. I think our best practice was maybe our last one, but we still practice really hard and really fast and did it in a teaching mode, which is what we're asked to do.

So our guys are going to miss these two days and then we'll come back with minicamp starting next week and it's really important for us to do really well there. We'll be that much smarter about how we can do things right and we'll continue to work with our young guys, to make sure they understand."

Carroll says the ruling came down as a result of a few isolated plays, rather than continues, constant rule violations. He acknowledged there were "a few plays that stood out."
