Dez Bryant was reportedly arrested in Texas on Monday on a domestic violence charge.

Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant was reportedly arrested on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge on Monday in DeSoto, Texas, according to multiple reports. FOX 4's Mike Doocy was among the first to break the news.

Bryant's time in the public eye as a football star has been lamentably checkered. An NCAA suspension from Oklahoma State that ended his 2009 season for not properly disclosing his relationship with Deion Sanders and a possibly unearned rep as a player who is difficult to coach have helped color his public perception, despite a lack of any visible incidents with the law or his teams.

A domestic violence arrest changes that calculus, obviously, and may end up depriving the Cowboys of their most potent deep threat for part of the 2012 NFL season if Bryant catches a suspension from the NFL. Bryant had 63 catches for 938 yards and nine touchdowns in 2011.
