Dez Bryant and his mother, Angela Bryant, released a joint statement Tuesday through attorney Royce West. The statement confirms that Angela Bryant will not press charges against her son for an alleged incident of domestic violence on July 16. The statement acknowledges that the mother and son had a disagreement, but says no violence occurred.
You can read the full text of the statement below.
Mr. Bryant and his mother Angela are appearing here today because they feel it is important to address recent reports that Mr. Bryant committed family violence against his mother. Although Dez would like to speak to this matter, on the advice of counsel, he will not make any statements at this time.
Did a family disagreement occur? Yes. Did Dez Bryant commit family violence against his mother? No.
They are here together today to show they do love and support each other, just as much as they did before the incident a week ago. But like all families, the Bryants have disagreements.
Mr. Bryant and his family understand the serious nature of family violence. They believe when all the facts are reviewed, Mr. Bryant will be cleared of any allegations of family violence.
Angela Bryant does not want charges filed against her son. Ms. Bryant has had an opportunity to speak with other people who witnessed the incident and has filed an Affidavit of Non Prosecution with the DeSoto Police Department. She recognizes that under the law, filing of the affidavit may not impact the legal outcome of her complaint. She asks that her affidavit be taken into consideration in deciding whether it is in the best interest of her family for this to continue in the legal system or allow them to resolve the issue as a family.
Dez and his mother believe this is a family matter that can be worked out through counseling.
They ask there not be a rush to judgment concerning their family. They also ask for your continued prayers and support for their family as they work through this matter.
Dez Bryant may still be charged for domestic violence by the local district attorney despite his mother's statement and affidavit. At the same time, prosecutors will have a difficult case to make if Bryant's mother refuses to testify against her son.

Dez Bryant and his mother will host a press conference on Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys announced. The topic of conversation will be Bryant's arrest last week in which he was initially accused of grabbing his mother and pulling her hair. You can hear audio of the 911 tape with Bryant's mother, Angela, telling police about the incident.
Earlier this week, Bryant's mother reportedly told authorities that she did not want to press charges against her son for the incident. It doesn't mean the D.A. won't charge him with domestic violence, but it does make it a lot less likely. Police typically need the victims to cooperate in situations like this and it doesn't sound like she will.
We're not sure exactly what they'll be saying at the press conference, which is being hosted by Bryant's attorney.
The press conference is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.

Dez Bryant's mother called the police on July 16, probably out of immediate concern for her safety, but that doesn't mean she wants to see her son go to prison. Bryant's mother has told the police that she wants the case against her son dropped.
Bryant was arrested following a domestic dispute in which he allegedly struck his mother, and he's facing a misdemeanor charge that carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail.
The case that police filed against Bryant includes an affidavit of non-prosecution from the complainant, which means that the person who initially filed the complaint -- Bryant's mother -- does not want to proceed with the case. There's no word yet on whether or not prosecutors plan to go forward with the case even without the endorsement of the complainant, but it's hard to believe they would have much of a case if Bryant's mother refused to testify against her son.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was arrested on Monday following a Saturday domestic violence incident where he slapped his mother and pulled her hair. Bryant will now face official charges related to the assault.
Tim McMahon of ESPN Dallas reports that the case has been sent to the Dallas district attorney and that Class A misdemeanor charges will be filed against Bryant, according to DeSoto, Texas police captain Ron Smith.
Smith, DeSoto's public information officer, said the police department has concluded its investigation and has opted to move forward with the charges.
"We're done with our work," Smith said. "We'll file with the district attorney's office and they'll take it from there."
If convicted, Bryant could face up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $4,000. This, of course, will be in addition to whatever penalty the NFL hands out for violations of conduct policies.

It remains to be seen whether or not Dez Bryant committed a criminal act before he was arrested on Monday, but it sounds like he knows he at least did something wrong. His adviser David Wells spoke about Bryant and the incident, with the quotes passed along by the Dallas News.
"He's very remorseful," Wells said of Bryant. "He loves his mom to death. And that's about it. No one wants to be in a situation like this. No one wants to go to jail."
Bryant allegedly assaulted his mother as part of the incident that got him arrested on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence, which could net him potential jail time if he is convicted. The NFL could punish Bryant under its personal conduct policy, and NFL spokesman Michael Signora said that the league is "aware of [Bryant's arrest] and it will be reviewed as appropriate."

Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant was arrested on a domestic violence charge and details of his arrest have started to come out. He is alleged to have slapped his mother and pulled her hair, according to the police report.
Now the 911 call from his mother to police has been released. Audio of it can be found here. Bryant's mother requests assistance from the police as her soon is leaving the house. She said officers will see where she was assaulted by him when they arrived.
The audio also includes Bryant's mother seemingly indicating that this isn't the first time something like this has happened. Via NFL.com:
"I can't keep letting him do this," said Bryant, who made a call at a nearby friend's house. "I can't keep letting him do me like this. I'm tired. I'm going to put an end to it today. I'm going to put an end to it today. I'm tired."
One of the things Roger Goodell looks at when deciding punishment for off-the-field infractions is a pattern. This is the first time Bryant has been arrested since he joined the Cowboys but he's had a number of other incidents for someone to reasonably conclude that a pattern is emerging. His mother's words don't help in that regard.

More details about the arrest of Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant are coming to light, and they're not pretty. Domestic violence charges are always serious and never to be taken lightly, but if the allegations against him are true, Bryant might have vaulted himself into a very exclusive category of violent idiocy.
The police report of the incident says that he physically assaulted his mother.
Desoto police say Dez bryant assaulted his mother. Slapped her across the face and pulled her hair.

Previous reports indicated that the female family member involved in the altercation with Bryant was his fiancee, not his mother. The argument also reportedly involved his half-brother.
Bryant is facing a Class A misdemeanor charge for domestic violence, which could potentially result in a $4,000 fine and a year in jail.

Dez Bryant was arrested on Monday following a Saturday incident in which the Dallas Cowboys receiver pushed his mother, according to a report from Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com. The Star-Telegram reports that the woman was actually his fiancee, and not his mother, but that's not completely clear yet. Bryant faces a misdemeanor domestic violence charge following the incident.
Here are the alleged details, via ESPNDallas:
A source said late Monday night that Bryant, in an argument with his half brother, wound up pushing his mother, Angela. According to the source, police responded to a call on Saturday night, but no arrests were made at that point. Further examination of the reports resulted in Monday's arrest, the source said.
The Star-Telegram's version is similar but with the fiancee and not his mother.
So then Bryant was charged with assaulting a female family member, a Class A misdemeanor. As usual, there's probably more to the story here but Bryant's camp, including agent Drew Rosenhaus, has been quiet to this point.
Police are not confirming the details of the arrest nor that the woman, who did not need to go to the hospital for injuries, was Bryant's mother.
This is Bryant's first arrest but not his first incident. Earlier this year he was detained at a nightclub following an alleged incident. Last year he was kicked out of the mall by off-duty officers for reportedly sagging and using bad language. He's also been sued for debts.
We'll let the legal system play out before pointing the finger at Bryant for this particular incident, but NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell doesn't have to wait. Other players have had numerous incidents without arrest and still faced Goodell's wrath. Bryant could be hearing from Goodell sometime soon.

On Monday, it was reported that Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. Late Monday evening, some details surrounding that arrest are beginning to trickle out.
Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Star-Telegram reports that police responded to a family violence call Saturday involving Bryant and his fiancee, whose injuries did not require hospitalization. According to Bryant's attorney, the receiver turned himself in Monday after learning there was a warrant for his arrest. He immediately posted $1,500 bond. Bryant has yet to comment publicly.
Bryant is facing a Class A misdemeanor charge, which could cost him up to $4,000 and a year in jail.
The Cowboys released a statement through spokesman Rich Dalrymple: "We are in the process of gathering information and will not have a comment at this time."
This may bode ill for Bryant's future with the Cowboys.
