Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is favored to win the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament this weekend.
A bevy of sports superstars and other celebrities will hit the links on Friday for the American Century Championship at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Lake Tahoe. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, himself a noted golf enthusiast, is favored to win the 54-hole competition at 5-2 odds.
Romo will be paired with another NFL quarterback, Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers. Rounding out their group is Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice. The trio will tee off at 1:55 p.m. Eastern on Friday.
While Romo is favored, he faces some stiff competition from some other high-powered golfers. John Smoltz is going off at 5-1 odds, the same as Vince Coleman.
The $600,000 competition raises money for the Livestrong Foundation. The first round of the tournament will be broadcast on the NBC Sports Network on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern time. NBC will have coverage of the event on Saturday and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern.
