The Arizona Cardinals are the first NFL team to open training camp for the 2012 season. Rookies and veterans report for camp on July 23, according to an official announcement from the NFL. They take the field for their first practice on July 25. Arizona is starting slightly earlier than the rest of the league because they are scheduled to play the New Orleans Saints in the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 5.
The Cardinals start camp with a quarterback issue to resolve. Arizona was one of a handful of NFL team that courted Peyton Manning in the spring, a year after dealing with the Eagles for Kevin Kolb and signing him to a six-year, $65 million contract. John Skelton is expected to challenge Kolb after winning five games in relief of the injured Kolb last season.
A complete schedule of practices, including sessions open to fans, can be found on the Cardinals' official website.
