When the Chiefs open training camp on Thursday, they will welcome back a familiar face who they sorely missed last season. After tearing his ACL just 12 rushing attempts into his 2011 season. Jamaal Charles is healthy again heading into 2012.
With Charles and newly acquired Peyton Hillis, the Chiefs are expected to have one of the NFL's top running back duos in 2012. Charles ran for 1,467 yards in 2010 and has a career yards per carry of 6.1. Hillis struggled last season, but ran for 1,177 yards in 2010. If both are healthy in 2012, they should be a major boost to a Chief running game which ranked 15th in yards per game last season.
In addition to Hillis, the Chiefs also added right tackle Eric Winston, tight end Kevin Boss and cornerback Stanford Routt. To bolster their defense, they used the No. 11 pick in the NFL Draft to select defensive tackle Dontari Poe.
The Chiefs complete training camp schedule can be found at the team's official website.
