Jahvid Best has been placed on the Detroit Lions' physically unable to perform list, the team announced Friday. Best was expected to be cleared for practice by the start of training camp after sitting out much of last season due to concussion symptoms.
If Best is still on the PUP list by the start of the regular season, he will be forced to sit out until after Week 6 per NFL rules. At this point, Lions fans have plenty of reason to be pessimistic about the running back. Best has struggled to stay healthy throughout his two-year career, and played in just six games last season. Considering the recurring nature of concussions, there is a chance his career is in jeopardy.
The Lions now have three players on PUP list. Along with Best, cornerback Chris Greenwood and linebacker Ronnell Lewis are also waiting to be cleared to participate in training camp.
