The Kansas City Chiefs open their 2012 preseason against the Arizona Cardinals on Friday.
The Arizona Cardinals got an early jump on the NFL preseason by playing in the NFL Hall of Fame Game last week, and they will return to the field on Friday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The biggest storyline for Arizona heading into this game is who will win the Cards' starting quarterback job. Kevin Kolb, who started nine games for Arizona last season, is currently battling John Skelton, who started the other seven games in 2011. Neither played much in Arizona's first preseason game, with Kolb completing 1-of-4 passes for four yards while Skelton completed 4-of-6 passes for 32 yards.
For the Chiefs, the game will mark the return for three key players. Running back Jamaal Charles is back after missing 14 games last season with a torn ACL. Charles rushed for 1,467 yards in 2010 but carried the ball just 12 times in 2011 before going out with an injury. In addition to Charles, safety Eric Berry and tight end Tony Moeaki will also make their returns. Berry tore his ACL in the first game last season, while Moeaki tore his ACL during the preseason.
