Considering that Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap fell to the ground clutching his knee in the team's first preseason game Friday against the New York Jets, it may be considered good news that the knee is only sprained. Nonetheless, the Bengals have revealed that Dunlap is expected to miss a month of action, which could put him in danger of being absent for Cincinnati's Week 1 match up against the Baltimore Ravens.
Dunlap hopes to make it back before the start of the regular season, but it remains to be seen if he can accomplish that goal. Dunlap, who is currently penciled in as a starter at defensive end, had 4.5 sacks for the Bengals in 2011, which was a significant drop off from the 9.5 he put up in his rookie season in 2010.
