Santonio Holmes will miss the New York Jets' second preseason game against the New York Giants this Saturday with a rib injury.

Santonio Holmes will miss the New York Jets' second preseason game against the New York Giants after suffering a rib injury earlier this month during an intra-squad scrimmage. Holmes missed the Jets' preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals this past Friday as well.

Head coach Rex Ryan has said that he expects Holmes to be ready for the regular season opener against the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 9. In the meantime, the Jets will have to make do with a shorthanded receiving corps. New York will have a chance to showcase rookie Stephen Hill in the coming few weeks, and they will have to hope that reserves Jeremy Kerley and Chaz Schilens can make an impact on their own.
