The Eagles might be interested in Olympian and former Florida Gators running back Jeff Demps, who followed up winning a silver medal as part of the U.S. 4x100-meter relay team at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London by filing paperwork to join the NFL, the league announced on Tuesday. CSNPhilly.com cites an unnamed team official who said the Eagles are "intrigued" by Demps and wouldn't rule out pursuing him, but also said it was a long shot that anything would come of the interest.
Still, just try to imagine all of those little guys running around the field for the Eagles: Michael Vick, LeSean McCoy, Jeremy Maclin, DeSean Jackson and then Demps, too. It really would resemble a track meet.
Demps stands just 5-foot-7, weighs 190 pounds and projects to be a third-down back and possibly a kickoff/punt returner in the NFL. If he signs with a team, Demps will make more money than most professional track and field athletes. He would also be an interesting addition to the Eagles' squad.
