No Timeline For Jason Witten To Return

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Dallas Cowboys are hoping Jason Witten can heal from his latest injury quickly, but so far there's no word from the organization about when he'll return. That was the message Thursday, when the tight end spoke to the media about his lacerated spleen.

"Right now I’m doing [all right]," Witten told DallasCowboys.com. "I’m just going to take it a day at a time. Obviously, I’d be hard-pressed to imagine not being out there against the Giants. But there’s no timetable right now."

So far, Witten has been ruled out for the Cowboys' remaining two preseason games. Head coach Jason Garrett hinted the earliest the seven-time Pro Bowler would be back is the season opener against the New York Giants.
