Dwayne Bowe has signed his franchise tag, although it's doubtful he plays this weekend against St. Louis.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe has officially signed his franchise tender, the team has now confirmed. It is doubtful that Bowe plays in this weekend's game against St. Louis, according to Arrowhead Pride.
ESPN's Cris Carter recently suggested that Bowe should be frustrated with the inconsistency of the Chiefs quarterbacks and another shift in philosophy with the team, and could be unhappy with getting the franchise tag as opposed to a desired long-term extension. Carter had come out on the side of Bowe in this situation, stating that teams like the Chiefs have started abusing the franchise tag system to essentially "rent" players for one year.
Bowe had 82 receptions and 1,159 yards with five touchdowns last season, setting a franchise-record with 15 touchdown receptions in 2010. In just five seasons, Bowe already sits seventh in team history with 4,927 receiving yards.
