Following test results, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Isaac Redman will avoid surgery on his injured hip, but will also miss the Steelers' preseason game on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. However, Redman could return to Steelers practice as early as next week.
In addition to the hip problem, Redman has also been slowed in the preseason by a groin injury. The Steelers expected Redman to enter the season as the starter as Rashard Mendenhall (torn ACL late last season) has just recently been removed from the physically unable to perform list. With this latest news, Redman could still be on track to be the feature back for the start of the season.
Jonathan Dwyer, who had been battling a shoulder injury, is projected to start against the Colts on Sunday at the running back position.
