The 49ers will travel to Houston to play the Texans in Week 2 of the NFL preseason.
Coming off a 17-6 win in their preseason opener, the San Francisco 49ers will go on the road in their second game, traveling to Houston to face the Texans.
After making a brief appearance, or not playing at all, the 49er starters figure to get a little more work in the second preseason game. Quarterback Alex Smith completed all three of his passes in the preseason opener, but Frank Gore, Randy Moss and other notable players did not take the field.
The Texans are also coming off a win, having knocked off the Carolina Panthers 26-13 in their preseason opener. Matt Schaub made a successful return from a foot injury which caused him to miss the final six regular-season games and the playoffs last year. Andre Johnson did not play in the first preseason game due to a groin injury, but he returned to practice this week and head coach Gary Kubiak said he expects Johnson to play against the 49ers.
