Brian Orakpo Injury: Redskins LB Leaves Game, Will Not Return

Stay connected with SB Nation

Washington Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo will not return to Saturday night's preseason game against the Chicago Bears after suffering an apparent injury to his left shoulder while trying to make a lunging tackle on Bears wide receiver Devin Hester late in the first quarter.

Hester, who had caught a pass from quarterback Jay Cutler, evaded Orakpo on the way to an 18-yard gain to Chicago's 38-yard-line with 3:50 left to play in the quarter.

Orakpo, who had offseason surgery to repair a torn left pectoral muscle suffered during the team's final game of the 2011 season, writhed on the field for a few moments but walked off under his own power.
