LaMichael James Injury: 49ers Running Back Hurts Ankle

Late in the fourth quarter of the second preseason game of the year for the San Francisco 49ers, rookie running back LaMichael James went down with an ankle injury that required him to be helped from the field. James was caught in a pileup that twisted his left ankle and was eventually carted to the locker room.

James was a second round pick of the 49ers in the 2012 NFL Draft after a productive collegiate career that included being unanimously named to the 2010 All-American Team.

The injury was the second in the game to 49ers running backs, as starting back Brandon Jacobs was unable to return after a knee injury ended his night in the first quarter.

At the time of the injury, the 49ers trailed the Houston Texans 20-9.
