The Seahawks traded linebacker Barrett Ruud to the Saints on Monday for an undisclosed draft pick.
The New Orleans Saints added some linebacker depth Monday when they acquired Barrett Ruud from the Seattle Seahawks for an undisclosed draft pick.
Ruud will help to solidify a New Orleans linebacker corps which has been hit hard by injury and suspension. Jonathan Vilma was suspended for the season, while free-agent acquisitions Curtis Lofton and David Hawthorne are both out with injuries.
Ruud signed with the Seahawks during the offseason and entered training camp in a battle for the starting position, but the emergence of rookie Bobby Wagner made Ruud expendable for the Seahawks.
Ruud was originally a second-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2005 draft. He played his first six seasons in Tampa Bay before spending last year with the Tennessee Titans. He's played in 104 games in his career, including 77 starts.
