The Titans made another cut as they get ready for the start of the season.
The Tennessee Titans have released veteran defensive tackle Shaun Smith.
As Jimmy Morris of Music City Miracles reports, Smith simply did not seem to fit into the Titans' 4-3 defensive scheme. This, combined with the fact that the Titans have had great success drafting defensive tackles in the last two years, made the move an easy decision.
Smith will likely be able to sign with another team, and the Titans' decision to dismiss him early gives the Brooklyn native time to find a club in need.
This is Smith's ninth season in the NFL. After playing in college at the University of South Carolina, the 6-2 325 tackle has played for the Saints, Bengals, Browns, Chiefs, and Titans.
The Titans will likely start the season with Sen'Derrick Marks and Jurrell Casey at defensive tackle.
