Eddie Royal finally returned to San Diego Chargers practice on Wednesday after having to sit out nearly an entire month from a hip injury. He's been resting in hopes of not re-aggravating his groin injury before the regular season begins.
Royal isn't expected to play Friday night and might not even play in the Chargers' preseason finale next week, but that didn't stop him from being excited about getting back on the field for Wednesday's practice. He didn't hide that feeling in his comments to the North County Times, either.
"I caught my first ball in live action in quite some time, and it felt really good," Royal said. "It's one thing to be watching and another to be in the huddle. It makes you feel more a part of the family. I'm happy to be back."
Royal apparently was only allowed to go half-speed on Wednesday, but it's looking good for him to be fully healthy once the regular season begins in September.
