Les Brown highlighted the pack of Miami Dolphins players waived on Saturday as the team prepares to trim the roster down to 75 players by the August 27 deadline.
The 24-year-old tight end made waves when the Dolphins signed him solely off of his raw talent, despite the fact he hadn't played football since high school. Brown also got a pretty good run on the HBO reality show Hard Knocks during his short stint with the Dolphins. He was never really a threat to crack the final roster cut, but had the potential skills to make a good practice squad player.
The other surprise according to The Phinsider was defensive tackle Chas Alecxih, who also had raw skills that could eventually translate to a solid backup role. Although they noted he wasn't nearly ready to start or receive regular playing time.
The Dolphins also waived the following players:
CB Marcus Brown, Trenton Hughes, Jonathan Wade
S Tryell Johnson
LB Josh Linam
RB Jerome Messam
DE Jacquies Smith
The team also announced that running Jonas Gray was placed on the physically unable to perform list.
