The Jets and Panthers will be on national television, showcasing two teams that couldn't be more different.
The New York Jets are still looking for their first touchdown of the preseason. They'll try to accomplish that feat on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers at MetLife Stadium.
The two teams are a study in contrasts. New York is a staunch defensive-minded team under head coach Rex Ryan that can't seem to get any consistency on offense. With Santonio Holmes having missed the first two preseason games, the Jets' passing game has been non-existent whether Mark Sanchez or Tim Tebow is at the helm.
However, the Panthers are absolutely loaded with talent on the offensive side of the ball, led by Cam Newton and Steve Smith. Of course, they also have a trio of explosive running backs with DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert.
New York is still looking for its first win of the preseason after losing to the CIncinnati Bengals and getting blown out by the defending-champion New York Giants. Carolina has split its two games, with a loss to the Houston Texans before beating the Miami Dolphins.
With both teams expected to play their starters into the third quarter, it could be a nice barometer before the regular season starts in two weeks.
