The Miami Dolphins picked up another 2013 draft pick by sending cornerback Vontae Davis to the Colts for a second-round pick. Dolphins blog
The Phinsider says the deal clearly shows the team is in full rebuild mode now, and has picked up multiple second- and third-round draft picks.
The team is clearly in rebuild mode, with multiple second and third round picks for 2013 now. The team appears ready to build around rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill, looking more toward the future than they are looking at today.
Davis was a former first round-pick himself and was clearly talented but struggled with maturity issues and fell out of favor with the Miami coaching staff. A second-round pick is a solid return for a player who was clearly not in the team's long-term plans.

Colts owner Jim Irsay promised a trade and he delivered on Sunday by sending a second-round pick to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for cornerback Vontae Davis.
Colts blog Stampede Blue acknowledges that a second-round pick was a steep price to pay but Indy clearly needed help at the cornerback position. Davis should immediately provide a more talented option.
Giving up a second rounder is a steep price, especially for a Colts team with so many holes. However, it was obvious that the front office was not happy with the corner play in preseason. The starter for the first preseason game (Justin King) wasn't even active for the third game for reasons that still have not been explained. Kevin Thomas, the "starter" all throughout OTAs, was traded to Philadelphia (and later released by them) three days into training camp.
Davis has had a tough training camp with the Dolphins after reportedly showing up out of shape. He had clearly fallen out of favor with the Dolphins coaching staff and a fresh start was probably the best thing for all parties.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay started the trade rumors earlier in the week and on Sunday afternoon they came to fruition. The Colts acquired Vontae Davis from the Miami Dolphins for a 2013 2nd round pick and a conditional 6th round pick.
The Colts have confirmed it, so it's official.
"Bottom line with this move today is we got better as a football team," said General Manager Ryan Grigson. "That is always the goal each day for this organization. From the first time he stepped on the field at Illinois as a freshman or in the National Football League as a rookie, you knew Vontae was a special talent. Now he has a chance under Coach Pagano and this coaching staff to reach not only his potential as a football player, but as a person as well. That is our collective goal moving forward."
The Dolphins are stockpiling picks while the Colts are using theirs for established players. Davis was a 2009 1st round pick and is only 24 years old.
