The New York Jets suffered a scare on Sunday Night against the Carolina Panthers when tight end Dustin Keller injured his right hamstring in the first quarter.
However, it appears Gang Green is finally getting some good news this preseason. According to ESPN, Keller is expected to be on the field Week 1 when the Jets take on the Buffalo Bills.
New York can ill-afford to lose Keller with the offense already mired in one of the worst touchdown slumps ever seen in the preseason. (The last team not to score a touchdown in first three preseason contests? The 1977 Atlanta Falcons).
Keller provides Mark Sanchez with a legitimate target who can make plays once the ball is in his hands. Outside of Santonio Holmes, a strong case could be made that Keller is the No. 2 target in the passing game.
The Jets may have lost Sunday night, but it clearly could've been worse.

Keller hauled in a 24-yard catch from Mark Sanchez but looked like he pulled up just before he was tackled. He is on the sidelines and getting looked at by the Jets' doctors and will not return to the game.
Keller played in all 16 games for the Jets last season and caught a career-high 65 passes for 815 yards with five touchdowns. He has 213 receptions in his career for 2,559 yards and 15 touchdowns.
