The deadline for NFL teams to trim their rosters down to 75 players is fast approaching, and the Chicago Bears cut 10 players Monday to help reach that number, Larry Mayer of chicagobears.com reports.
In addition to the 10 cuts, Chicago also placed Brandon Hardin on injured reserve and Johnny Knox on the physically unable to perform list. Hardin was a third-round pick out of Oregon State in April's NFL Draft. He was lost for the season with a neck injury sustained in a preseason game against the Washington Redskins. Knox is still recovering from a spinal injury suffered last December.
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune says the reported cuts bring the roster down to 76, but there may be another one on the way:
