Detroit Lions kicker Jason Hanson will be back with the franchise for the 21st straight season. Hanson, who has been Detroit's kicker since1992, was competing in camp with undrafted free agent Derek Dimke and has won that battle. The Lions announced Monday that they cut Demke along with nine others as they move towards a 75-man roster.
Hanson, a career 83 percent kicker, went 24-29 last season, only missing from outside of 40 yards. Thanks to Detroit's high-powered offense, Hanson's 126 points in 2011 was the second-highest total of his career and the most since the 1993 season.
The other players released by Detroit are FB James Bryant, WR Jarrett Dillard, RB Stephfon Green, S Sean Jones, G Jacques McClendon, LB Slade Norris, G J.C. Oram, DT Bobby Skinner and WR Terrence Toliver.
