For the second straight season, Nick Folk has earned the job as the New York Jets place kicker. The depth chart news was made official Monday when the team cut Josh Brown. Head coach Rex Ryan and special teams coordinator Mike Westhoff made the decision on Brown, who was released by the St. Louis Rams this winter and will now need to find another team.
For most of training camp, Brown pushed Folk hard but just like last season, when Nick Novak was given a chance to earn a Jets' roster spot, the former Arizona Wildcats outperformed his opponent. Folk cemented his starting role after making all three of his attempts in Sunday's 17-12 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Brown went 1-for-2.
