The Washington Redskins gave the start in Wednesday's preseason game to Kirk Cousins, the team's other rookie quarterback selected in the 2012 draft. While the fourth game of the preseason mostly featured backups and third-string players battling for a roster spot, Cousins had a big night in the 30-3 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Cousins was on the field for most of the game, completing 15-of-27 passes for 222 yards. He did have one interception, but still led the team to a blowout victory. The Redskins made it to the red zone multiple times with Cousins, but they settled for field goals on three of four attempts.
Redskins running back Roy Helu also had a big game, rushing for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Washington's defense also played well, intercepting Bucs starter Brett Ratliff three times.
