Michael Floyd Makes The Best Catch No One Saw

Stay connected with SB Nation

The catch Michael Floyd made on Thursday night was the sort of play that the fan whose uncle is a janitor at the team complex hears about and passes down as a sort of legend. But it happened in a real, televised NFL preseason game, and so there is visual proof that it happened.

That GIF, via Mocksession, shows what happens when Floyd gets hit as he's hauling in a ball in the end zone: the Notre Dame product just absorbs the hit, adjusts, and brings the ball down for six.

Is this destined to be the most meaningless and underappreciated great catch ever? It happened in the second quarter of the final preseason game of the 2012 NFL season, a time when teams are trying to figure out who their 53rd roster spots go to, and it came on a pass from Ryan Lindley, the third-string quarterback on a team that will start either Kevin Kolb or John Skelton. So ... yeah, probably.
