The Arizona Cardinals made 18 cuts today to bring their roster down to 53 men in time for the NFL's Friday evening deadline.
Linebacker Clark Haggans, a 12-year veteran, highlighted the list as one of four linebackers that were released. The Cardinals also released wide receivers DeMarco Sampson, Stephen Williams and Isaiah Williams to bring the receiving corps down to just five people, including undrafted LaRon Bryd as the fifth option.
The rest of the cuts included:
Running backs Javarris James and Alfonso Smith
Quarterback Rich Bartel
Cornerback Crezdon Butler and Larry Parker
Safety Blake Gideon
Guard Russ Hochstein
Defensive Tackle Ricky Lumpkin
Linebackers Colin Parker, Quan Sturdivant and Brandon Williams
Tight end Steve Skelton and Martell Webb
Defensive end Ronald Talley and Everrette Thompson
Center Scott Wedige
Tackle D.J. Young
The Cardinals decided to keep Levi Brown on the injured reserve list.
