As night practice ends, rookie WR Greg Childs goes down with apparent right knee injury. Taken off on cart.— Dan Wiederer (@StribDW) August 5, 2012
The Vikings selected Childs in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft and were possibly counting on him opening the season as a starter while Jerome Simpson serves a three-game suspension. While the extent of the injury is still unknown, initial reports say Childs suffered significicant injuries to both knees and will likely miss the 2012 season.
Greg Childs' MRI is not complete but two sources say it's a significant injury to both knees and he's almost surely done for the season.— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) August 5, 2012
The injury would be the second major knee injury Childs has suffered in less than two years. He tore his patellar tendon in October of 2010 while he was playing at Arkansas.
