Many draft experts felt like the Minnesota Vikings got a steal when they drafted Arkansas wide receiver Greg Childs in the fourth round the 2012 NFL Draft. Childs and the Vikings got some bad news on Saturday; however, when Childs tore patellar tendons in both of his knees, effectively ending his 2012 rookie season and putting his overall career in jeopardy.
The Vikings waived Greg Childs as injured on Monday, and he will revert to injured reserve if he clears NFL waivers. Teams have 24 hours to put in a waiver claim if they're so inclined, but typically teams don't go down that road and follow an unwritten rule of not claiming waived/injured players.
To replace Childs on the roster, the Vikings have re-signed South Florida rookie wide receiver A.J. Love
Childs is expected to have surgery later in the week.

The seriousness of Childs' injury is hard to understate. He tore his patellar tendon during his junior season at the University of Arkansas. He did play in 2011, struggling on the field as he slowly got back to 100 percent.
