The Jacksonville Jaguars were among the last teams to cut their roster down to the NFL's mandated 53 players on Friday night, but their big move on the day was actually assigning Will Rackley to injured reserve.
Big Cat Country notes that the Jaguars placing Rackley on IR means he cannot suit up for Jacksonville this season:
Rackley is not eligible to come off of the IR list mid-season, despite the new IR rules for the 2012 season because he did not make it to the 53-man roster. In order to be eligible, he would have had to be on the 53-man roster and be placed on IR after Sept. 4, per the new rule.
Rackley, a third-round pick in 2011, started 14 games for the Jaguars at left guard in 2011.
Here's the full list of players released by the Jaguars on Friday:
Courtney Greene, Corvey Irvin, Rod Issac, Trumaine McBride, Richard Murphy, Jordan Palmer, William Robinson, Leigh Torrence, Demetrius Williams, Daniel Baldridge, Colin Cloherty, Odrick Ray, Will Ta'ufo'ou, Kendrick Adams, Lee Barbiasz, Mike Brown, Ryan Davis, Antonio Dennard, D.J. Hall, Joshua Jones, and J.K. Schaffer
