Jaguars Vs. Vikings, Week 1: Jacksonville Offensive Line Injuries Mount

Stay connected with SB Nation

While the Jacksonville Jaguars lost a heart-breaking OT game to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, the bigger concern over at SB Nation's Jaguars blog Big Cat Country is the injuries to their offensive line:

The Jaguars lost both guard Eben Britton and right tackle Cameron Bradfield mid-way through the game, which is coincidentally when the Jaguars offense took a dive off a cliff. After the game guard Uche Nwaneri, who left for a few plays with an injury of his own, was seen in the locker room with a boot on his foot, with Britton and Bradfield wearing boots as well. The Jaguars will have a real issue on their hands if these three players are lost for any significant about of time (i.e., next week) as the protection in the passing game was a massive problem when those players left.

The last thing a young QB like Blaine Gabbert needs is protection issues upfront, as few signal-callers can improve their accuracy or decision-making with defensive players breathing down their neck.

Every team in the NFL worries about staying healthy, but rebuilding teams like the Jaguars have a much smaller margin for error and can ill afford significant losses along their line.
