49ers Vs. Packers, Week 1: Green Bay's Running Game, Defense Struggles In Loss

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Green Bay Packers did not get their season off to a great start on Sunday afternoon, falling at home to the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 30-22. Despite the close final score, the 49ers completely dominated the game for four quarters and allowed just one touchdown in the first three periods.

SB Nation's great Packers blog, Acme Packing Company, has reflected on the loss and shared their thoughts. They are not happy about the outcome, as you can imagine:

There's not much to say except that this game was terrible. We'll attempt a recap anyway.

The Green Bay Packers played poorly for four quarters, inexplicably got back into the game, tried to beat themselves, got back into the game again, then failed to close it out. It was the worst kind of loss.

Many of their frequent posters on their blog echoed these sentiments. It was not an impressive game from the Packers, and now the team has to regroup in practice and prepare for the Chicago Bears in Week 2.
