Antonio Gates is expected back at Chargers practice on Thursday, according to a report.

San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates is expected to return to practice on Thursday after sitting out the beginning of the week with a sore rib, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune's Michael Gehlken.

Gates suffered the injury early in the Chargers' 22-14 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Monday night, but returned to the game in the third quarter. He hauled in four passes for 43 yards despite the injury, but was targeted eight times during the game.

The eight-time Pro Bowler has been plagued with injuries over the past few seasons, but still managed to catch 64 passes for 778 yards and seven touchdowns last year in 13 games.
