Detroit Lions fans and a lot of fantasy football owners can sigh with relief, wide receiver Calvin Johnson returned to practice for the Lions Thursday in Allen Park, Mich.
Johnson missed Wednesday's practice with a foot injury and appeared on the team's injury report that day. He had six catches for 111 yards last Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, and will be needed against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday.

Now that Johnson is back, he is expected to start and play.
Participation in midweek practice days in the NFL for Sunday games are strong indicators if an injured player will be available for the week's game. So Johnson's return bodes well for the Lions.
However, Detroit didn't have safety Louis Delmas (knee) and cornerback Bill Bentley (concussion) in Thursday's practice. Delmas has been unable to take part since knee surgery on Aug. 7.
Other Lions not practicing Thursday: defensive end Lawrence Jackson (calf), defensive tackle Corey Williams (knee) and linebacker Travis Lewis (quadriceps).
